Charity Year!

So this year I put a little bit of myself aside for others.

I made a couple of scarves and a hat for Project Appalachia from my LYS A Stitcher's Haven.

I contributed with a lapghan for Vitas Hospice.

And now I'm working in the greatest charity project of them all... Preemie Hats for Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood. They work up so fast and they're just adorable.

Long time, no see

It's been a while since I haven't been here.

Lots of knitting and crocheting had happened in the meantime and I'm still going, not planning to stop anytime soon.

The new addition to my line of hobbies is needlepoint, and I LOVE IT even though I just started. But I can't do it for a long period of time because it hurts my wrist so I do a little bit everyday.

I'll b back with pictures and much more...

Selfish Year!!

Well, I've been really busy lately, lots of knitting and crocheting, and it is all for me so far!! YES you read right...ALL FOR ME!! So far I've declare myself to be in a selfish year. Nothing wrong with that right??

I've been picking up projects that I had left aside, because it's time to focus on myself instead of finishing everything for everyone else but me.

I finally finished the manon sweater, it took me so long because I was scare of putting it together the wrong way after all the work I had to do. Now what I have left is to weave in ends, BIG PAIN IN THE &^(&*!!!

I also picked up my Mitered Square Afghan. This particular project is taking me a little longer because even though it's fun to make I don't really like to work on the same thing for too long. So I basically make 2 or 3 squares a week. That makes me happy enough.

I don't have pictures of them yet, but I promise as soon as a take them I'll post them (I know I sound like a politician, promising, promising and nothing, but I mean it this time)!!!!

Fingering Socks

I just finished my first fingering weight sock.

I've got to admit it took forever to finish just one but it feels really good when you get see the final product.

I just started the second one but I'm putting more time into this one so I could finish it faster.

The yarn is Tofutsie from South West Trade Company (it feels really good and soft). Hopefully I'll get to show the whole thing done by next week. ;)

Here's the thing...

Ok. Here's the thing, my computer has been playing tricks on me and most of the times it just goes off in the middle of my web surfing...not cool.

So that's why I haven't been able to post lately, besides the fact I've been pretty busy working on my projects.

For starters, I did finish The Clapotis wrap for my mom and I'm still working on the Manon Sweater. The Mitered Square Afghan I'll pick up again as soon as I finish with the sweater.

I've been making washclothes for gifts, I just put them in a bag with some shower gel and I'm good to go.

I'll post some project pictures soon, if my computer behaves :-P

My New Babies...

This the new home for my babies!

What goes thru your mind when your fish start dying one by one every day???

THERE'S SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE FREAKING WATER!!!!!

It all started when I got algae in my tank (for not taking good care of it, of course!), I tried all king off things and the stupid brown algae wouldn't go away, it was there to stay!

My last resource was THIS!! (cheap stuff!) And after a couple of treatments its when they started dying.

I lost 4 of my babies, which I had for over 2 years :(

Long story short... I had to spring clean my tank, get new decorations (gravel, plants, rocks...) and get new fish because I was only left with 4 and the 30 gallon tank was way to big for just them.

I got some Gold Gouramies and a couple of Blue Gouramies!! I like them a lot!!

The wait is over!

I went to Barnes and Noble yesterday and what its my surprise when I see they had just received the last Harry Potter book in Spanish. I knew I immediately had to get it, specially after waiting 8 months for it.

The thing is, I have all my collection in Spanish already (which I have since they started coming out) and I wanted to keep it that way. Basically, all my literature (and I mean ALL!!!) is in Spanish, just because it's my native language and I could get involved more easily.

It was really annoying to see all my friends and coworkers reading it, knowing that I had to wait this long for mine. I had to tell them all not to ruin it for me and to keep their book comments to themselves. It was a looong wait!!! Too long!!!

I can't wait to get home and get my hands on it until I fall asleep. I love Harry Potter!!

The only problem I see is... how do I knit while reading?? I don't think I could do that! I guess I have to put my WIPs aside for a couple of days because HARRY POTTER IS HERE!!

(Did I say I love Harry Potter???)
